Getting there by train

The route to Normandy by train almost always takes travellers via Paris, trains to Normandy depart mostly from Gare Lazare and less frequently from Gare  Montparnasse (to Alencon and Granville). Even without the high speed TGV train the times from Paris are short:

Paris - Alençon:2 hours 30 minutes
Paris - Caen: 2 hours
Paris - Evreux: 1 hour
Paris - Rouen: 75 minutes
Paris - Deauville: 2 hours 30 mins

Getting around by train

Larger towns are connected by the state railway the sncf, Tel. 08 92 353535 7-22, 0.34 Euro / minute. For regional journeys you are looking at the TER Transport Express Regionaux, all stations have a booklet with times and connections.
